What will the DPDP Act ask of your website?

Check a website

We read robots.txt first, then your homepage and up to 20 of your own pages. We read the HTML your server sends and do not run its JavaScript.

Check a spreadsheet

We look for Aadhaar, PAN, phone, UPI, card and 9 other kinds of identifier. The file is read in memory and thrown away; we keep only the counts. A few hundred rows is enough.

What happens to what you give us

  • A website check keeps the site's address, the pages we read on it and what we found, for 7 days, so the report link works. After that it can no longer be opened, and it is deleted the next time anyone uses the checker. Reports are left out of our backups. We never copy email addresses or names we see on a page.
  • A file check keeps only how many values of each kind we found and in which column numbers. Never a value, a column name or the file's name. The file itself is never written to disk.
  • About you: no cookies and no trackers on this page. Your IP address is held in memory for up to an hour to limit abuse, and our request log keeps only a keyed hash of it.
